Looking for something to get through Droughtlander? Acorn TV is the place to turn for an Outlander star. No Tears is coming to the streamer.
There may be a light at the end of the Droughtlander tunnel, but that doesn’t make it any easier right now. You’re likely looking for TV shows to watch, and why not something with an Outlander star? Maria Doyle Kennedy will be in No Tears on Acorn TV in October.
The 2002 miniseries is a must-watch, even without Maria Doyle Kennedy in it. She’s the cherry on the top of the cake. Based on a true story, it gives us the history of fighting against tainted blood in Ireland. Yes, you read that right. Tainted blood.

The legal drama series focuses on a group of women who are all given contaminated blood products during childbirth. They are all infected with hepatitis C, and now they need to fight against this ever happening again.
Kennedy plays a young mother from Dublin, who ends up being one of the campaign group’s founding members. In an attempt to prevent this from happening to anyone again, she looks at who is to blame and figure out what exactly happened.
This is something that did happen in Ireland. Women who were given an Anti D injection were infected with hepatitis C. The case started in 1994 and wouldn’t end until 1997. It took a fight of many women to ensure something was done to avoid anything like this happening again. It would change the Irish Blood Bank forever.
No Tears offers a drama, but it remains true to the facts (something important for such a series). However, due to time, some of the characters were composites of various women from the past. After all, around 1,000 women were infected!
This is a series you need to watch. With four episodes, it’s the perfect binge-watch. It’ll give you one thing to watch during Droughtlander, and you’ll likely end up watching it a second time.
