4. Opening up to the priest

In the “Idiot Hut,” Roger met a priest. They had a discussion of morals, of faith, and of doing what’s right. Roger opened up, sharing everything that he’d been through. More importantly, he shared his own realization that he needed to put himself first.

After months of trying to get back to Brianna, Roger had given up. Everything was for nothing right now. He’d almost resigned himself to failing and leaving without his love.It was a sign of just how far Roger could be pushed.

3. Continuing his research after the breakup

Despite breaking up with Brianna in the 1970s, Roger returned to Britain and kept researching. Some of that research was more by chance, reading about Fraser’s Ridge. He could have just put the book aside, but he decided to find out more about Fraser’s Ridge and figure out whether there was a chance it was Brianna’s parents.

There was this sweet moment on the phone, as Brianna realized that Roger had done all this despite them being broken up. He cared about her. And it’s a shame something couldn’t have been said then.
