What were the ratings for Outlander Season 1, Episode 4 like the first time it aired? They weren’t as positive as previous episodes, but still good.
Claire made a plan to escape in Outlander Season 1, Episode 4. Here’s a look back at the ratings for the episode the first time it aired.
This episode did see in decline in the total audience ratings, dropping by almost 16%, according to TV Series Finale. While it is disappointing to know that there was a drop, there is some good news that we can take away from it. The drop didn’t go below the series premiere.

We never actually saw a drop below the series premiere during the first season. “The Gathering” was actually the second-lowest rated episode in the total audience of the whole season. Plus, the show was already renewed after the premiere, so we know that these ratings were good for STARZ at the time.
In terms of the demo, it remained steady from the previous week. I say a lot that the demo isn’t as key to renewals on STARZ as it is on network TV. STARZ doesn’t rely on the ad revenue to support the channel because it’s all through app subscriptions.
What we don’t get to find out is how the episode performed on the STARZ app. The premium cable network doesn’t release the app ratings publicly. What we do know is that the first episode more than doubled in total viewers from live ratings to the app viewers, so we could assume the same for this episode.
While we may say now that the live ratings are bad because they’re down from the third season, it’s important to take a look back at past seasons. Season 1 was down compared to Season 3, but it was still strong for STARZ.
