2. Angus and Rupert show off their skills

Up to this point, Rupert and Angus were really the comedic relief of Outlander Season 1. They weren’t often viewed as the smart men, just the muscle (of sorts) and manpower for a fight. While they’d been useful, such as Angus teaching Claire to protect herself, they hadn’t come up with too many plans.

That was until this point. It was because of Angus and Rupert’s skills that Claire had found an initial way into Wentworth Prison. I love that we get to see the two show off their skills and become a crucial part of the method to save Jamie.

1. Murtagh gets to save the day

Like how I love that Angus and Rupert are a crucial part of saving Jamie, Murtagh becomes the cog in the wheel. He’s the one that finds the exact way they can get into Wentworth Prison to get Jamie out.

For much of Outlander, it’s Claire or Jamie figuring things out. They’re the ones that have to come up with all the plans and find people to help follow them through. However, Claire can’t come up with the final plan to save Jamie. If she did, she’d be a Mary Sue; it’s as simple as that.

He gets to be the one to figure out how to get into Wentworth to get Jamie out. And we can thank a bunch of cows.
