Outlander is full of Scottish rebels. Now it’s time to learn more about the Scottish rebels of the past at Outlander Meets Mackenzie.

There have been many Scottish rebels over the years. One of those would become Toronto’s first mayor, William Lyon Mackenzie. Now you can learn more about him and the lives of the people in the 19th century through Outlander Meets Mackenzie.

Okay, so the events take place 100 years after the time of Claire and Jamie Fraser. However, considering it wasn’t until the late-1800s that the world really advanced, there are going to be a lot of similarities in the dress, the printing press, hygiene, herbalism, and much more.

Everything listed here is what you’ll delve into during Outlander Meets Mackenzie. There’s also a chance to transcribe the historical documents and even discover your own clan connections. While it has the word “Outlander” in it, this is an event for everyone but is aimed at those who love the Scottish- and now Colonial-set book and TV series.

William Lyon Mackenzie may have become the first mayor of Toronto, but he also inspired change. He was one of the leaders in the Rebellion of 1837, holding strong political views about equality and was a journalist. Part of the event is about how printing presses were used to help push change.

It’s running for two days only at Mackenzie House. You can get a chance to explore on Mar. 14 or wait until Apr. 6. Either way, the event runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time and it costs $33 per person.
