We’re in full Droughtlander swing and that means you’re looking for a way to get through the days. Rewatching and rereading is great, but what about listening? It’s time to turn to podcasts that are perfect for Outlander fans.
During Droughtlander, you’re likely rereading the books and rewatching the show. Some of you will look for other shows to watch or books to read. And these are great, but what about another form of media? It’s all about podcasts for Outlander fans.

I’ve touched on podcasts before, sharing my favorite Outlander-based podcasts. You can check them all out here. This time, I want to do something a little different. While I’m sharing podcasts that are good for Claire and Jamie fans, they’re not show- or book-based. Sometimes, you need to open your world to other forms of fiction or stories.
These are all podcasts I love to listen to throughout the year. They delve into other mystical or magical stories and many of them are based on real life. So, here are five podcasts I truly recommend listening to as an Outlander fan.
5. The History Extra podcast
One of the things that drew me into Outlander was the period setting. I love history and period dramas are my go-to. Whether it’s Downton Abbey, Ripper Street, The Tudors, or even The White Queen, I will delve into plenty of historical romance, historical fiction, and so much more.
The History Extra podcast is a must for those of you who are history fans. It’s all about real history from around the world. And each episode will bring in a guest, someone who is well-versed in their topic.
This isn’t just about events of the real past either. There have been episodes focused on TV shows that are set in the past. One of my favorite episodes was about Vikings and listening to the work Michael Hirst put into creating the series. I really hope there’s an episode with Diana Gabaldon or even the Outlander showrunners at some point.
