Caitriona Balfe working on two writing projects and has ambitious goals

Caitriona Balfe is currently working on two writing projects and has some superb goals. Don’t worry! This definitely isn’t bad news for Outlander.

While sharing that Caitriona Balfe had been upped to producer for Outlander Season 5 (along with Sam Heughan), it was also revealed that she is working on two writing projects. Don’t worry! They won’t get in the way of the series.

The Irish Times reported that Balfe has two writing projects on the go and currently in first draft stage. One is by herself and the other is with a friend. What the publication doesn’t share is whether they’re for movies, shows, or even books, but it’s exciting to see Balfe in another medium than acting.

It sounds like the writing is for movie projects. During the interview, Balfe shares that she wanted to become someone to even the balance between men and women in the industry. She wants to create jobs for other women within TV and movies, but that means doing something other than acting and writing is the first step.

She certainly has some ambitious goals — and I’m sure she can achieve — and that’s to direct one of her projects. Could we see her direct an episode of Outlander first to get into the swing of things?

While we don’t get to know what the projects are, they’re exciting because of the reason Balfe is getting into them. She’s not just writing because she wants to (and that is awesome in itself) but because she wants to even this balance. Balfe has been a large part of the #MeToo campaign on social media and now she’s stepping out in another way to help it grow.

But don’t worry about your favorite series. Outlander Seasons 5 and 6 are confirmed and production has started on the fifth season. Balfe is in it now as a producer as well as an actress and she wants to see this through to the end. This show actually gives her time to hone her directorial abilities, get more than the first draft of her scripts done, and figure out who she wants to be in the industry.
