Caitriona Balfe confirms Outlander Season 5 filming date
Outlander Season 5 filming begins soon. At the end of STARZ’s TCA panel, Caitriona Balfe confirmed the date.
If you’re ready for some filming spoilers and teases, get ready for them soon. Caitriona Balfe has confirmed Outlander Season 5 filming starts very soon.
It was STARZ’s turn to take to the TCA stage and, at the end of the panel, Caitriona Balfe shared that the filming on the season starts in Glasgow next week. She didn’t give an exact date, but most productions will start on Mondays, running during the weekdays and taking the weekend off. It takes about eight days to film one episode, but that can differ depending on the weather and on the set episodes.

As well as confirming filming will start, Balfe also gave a quick overview of what we can expect. Outlander Season 5 will be about family and loyalty. There will be politics involved, which isn’t surprising considering the ending that we got for Season 4.
What about Balfe’s character, Claire? We’ll get to see her as a grandmother and an “older woman.” We’ve already started to see the change in Jamie and Claire’s relationship and it sounds like that will continue as we move forward.
Something that will be interesting to see is how Claire acts around her two grandchildren. Yes, two! Don’t forget that Fergus’ son, Germaine, is her grandson considering Fergus was officially adopted by Jamie during Fergus and Marsali’s wedding. It will be interesting to see how the two youngsters grow up together now everyone is on the Ridge.

No locations have been confirmed yet. However, some eagle-eyed fans are likely to be out in the usual locations. Cumbernauld Park may be a location used again as that is a filming base, but probably not right away. The mention of Glasgow suggests that some on-location filming will happen. It’s close enough and was used for much of the woodland filming.
