When it happened: Season 1, Episode 7
Why it happened: Claire had no choice but to marry Jamie. While a few moments from “The Wedding” have made it to this list, there’s only one that could ever take up the top spot. The wedding night delivered a mixture of nervousness, humor, and sexiness when the Frasers consummated their wedding.
Why it was so romantic: What wasn’t romantic about the wedding night? Everything worked together perfectly. Six episodes of buildup brought us to this moment, one that we’d been dying to see. And it all started with the buildup of other elements of the wedding.
The wedding night delivered with the lighting, the writing, and the chemistry between Claire and Jamie. There was no denying that there was passion there, but there were also nerves. Claire felt awful for not getting back to Frank, while Jamie didn’t know what he was doing. The two were there for each other throughout the night.
Jamie gave Claire time to gain some liquid courage. They worked their way up to finally consummating their marriage and when they did, it was quick and initially dirty. Yet, Jamie made it clear that he wanted to learn to be better. He wanted to make sure Claire enjoyed the night, too, and he was willing to let her teach him.
