16. Jamie carrying Claire over the threshold

When it happened: Season 4, Episode 4

Why it happened: After settling the boundary dispute with their Cherokee neighbors and killing the man-bear, the Frasers were finally able to start building their home. With the base of the cabin built, Jamie had the chance to pick up his wife and carry her over the threshold.

Why it was so romantic: Throughout Outlander Season 4, Jamie kept sharing his regrets with Claire. He regretted that he never had money to buy her items and that they’d been apart for so long. Claire didn’t want him to regret these things, knowing that being with him was enough, but he couldn’t help it.

And that led to this moment with the cabin. One thing he’d never had with Claire was a home. Even when at Lallybroch, it clearly didn’t feel like home. Jenny had been keeping care of the place and Ian had joined her. It was their place and was officially signed over to their son to at least keep it out of the Crown’s hands.

After all this time, Claire and Jamie were building their home together. They were finally getting a place to call their own and Jamie marked that with this romantic gesture.
