How is Brianna’s hair curly after being straight for so long on Outlander?
Brianna’s hair is certainly frizzy. How is that possible when her hair was so straight earlier on Outlander? Is it a continuity error or a sign of the times?
Outlander fans certainly pay a lot of attention to parts of episodes you wouldn’t initially think would come up. Hair is a popular topic of conversation and right now it’s about Brianna’s hair. For a long time, it was completely straight. Now it’s suddenly frizzy, but how is that possible?
It’s certainly not a continuity error. Brianna like naturally has curly hair. You just have to look at the actress who played Young Brianna. She had ringlets in her hair.
Having curly hair is understandable. Claire’s hair is naturally curly and something that has been a bain of her life. We’ve seen this from the very first episode. Jamie’s hair isn’t exactly straight, either.
Now the big question is why Brianna’s hair has been so straight for so long. It all comes down to fashion. In the 60s and 70s it was fashion to straighten the hair. No, women didn’t use straightening irons that we use now. They use a literal iron on their hair.
Brianna would have wanted to fit in with the time. She would have had this need to match her friends and having straight hair was part of that.
Being in the 18th century, there isn’t that need anymore. Plus, there isn’t the ability to straighten the hair since there are no irons and is no electricity. Of course her hair would turn to its natural state!
