20. Murtagh and Fergus’ reunion

When it happened: The intensity grew in Outlander Season 4, Episode 8. As Claire performed the surgery at the theater, Jamie had to get out a warning to Murtagh to call off the Regulator attack. At the same time, he had to protect himself. It wasn’t surprising that he sent Fergus in his place to warn Murtagh.

Why it was perfect: The great thing about this is that it was the reunion we didn’t realize how much we needed. After seeing Murtagh reunite with Jamie and Claire, it was easy to overlook the reunion with Fergus. Murtagh had spent so much time with the young boy and it had been 20 years.

Murtagh instantly recognizing Fergus was what made this perfect. He didn’t need to be told. Just one look and a couple of words and he immediately knew it was the young French boy. Jamie had trust Fergus yet again and it gave us this sweet moment in the forest.

19. Claire fangirling over Washington

When it happened: In the same episode, Claire and Jamie met Col. George Washington. Yes, the George Washington. Claire immediately fangirled, mentioning the cherry trees that Washington would have had no idea about. She then quickly covered her mistake and managed to share her reason for being so in awe with the man.

Why it was perfect: There were so many elements that made this moment so perfect. One of the biggest had to be the mention of the cherry trees, which is a myth about George Washington. Whether Claire believed he chopped down cherry trees or not wasn’t really clear, but it didn’t matter.

Another reason it was so great was the mention of Brianna. We all know how much Brianna would love to meet Washington with her interest in American history.
