Outlander lands spot in the Nielsen Social Top 10 with highly anticipated episode
The Birds and the Bees was the most highly anticipated episode of Outlander Season 4. And fans weren’t quiet on social media, with it making the Nielsen Social Top 10.
Every Monday, Nielsen releases its list of the Social Top 10. This is the top 10 mentions throughout the week (yes, week) on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. That’s a lot of shows and hashtags to cover and Outlander has made it into the Top 10 with the most highly anticipated episode of the season.
The Nielsen Social Top 10 is only counted on shows with new episodes. That does mean a lot of the popular scripted programs were off, but this is a time of year for plenty of specials and unscripted programming. It’s still a mighty achievement for the Frasers.

One of the biggest notes from this week is that it’s the only scripted program that has made it through. Even Counterpart couldn’t manage it, which aired in the hour slot after the Frasers on STARZ.
The show came in seventh with a total of 135,000 mentions. Twitter saw 86,000 mentions, Instagram saw 44,000, and the remaining 5,000 came from Facebook. The latter is the hardest to crack.
It’s great news for the show. “The Birds and the Bees” was the highly anticipated episode of the whole season. This was the moment that Jamie and Brianna finally met, and yes, there was all the emotion we expected. We got a chance to see the reunion between Claire and Brianna, as well as Murtagh and Young Ian get the chance to meet her. Now all we need is to see Fergus and Marsali meet Jamie and Claire’s daughter.
Unfortunately, the episode wasn’t a positive one for Roger, with that brutal ending. If only people actually talked to each other instead of trying to hold secrets.

Outlander Season 4 continues on Sundays at 8/7c on STARZ.
