2. His honesty about the obituary

Roger could have easily lied to Brianna about when he knew about the obituary. I actually wonder whether he did find out after Brianna left for Scotland and the stones, but regardless, he was honest.

Something anyone wants from their partner is honesty. Brianna would have wanted Roger to be truthful. We know that from the argument they ended up having. Brianna was hurt that Roger never told her about the obituary and gave her the option to try to save her parents.

What she seemed to overlook was that Roger didn’t lie to her in the end. When she asked in hope that Roger found out after she went through the stones, he told her the full truth. He didn’t lie about Fiona helping him find out the information. At no point did he try to lie around the truth that was coming out.

While he may have kept the obituary a secret, he was also eventually going to tell her. He did ring Gale in the end. Brianna also overlooked this point.

Roger knew that the truth would lead to an argument. Maybe he didn’t quite expect the argument they did have, but he knew what it could lead to and he was honest anyway. This is a good trait to have in a man.
