5. Telling Bree

When Claire and Frank agreed to remain married and raise Bree together, she promised Frank that while he lived, she would not look for a trace of Jamie Fraser in the history books. She held onto that promise.

They raised Bree the best they could together and Frank absolutely doted on her. When Frank eventually passed, Claire admitted to Bree who her real father was. Of course, it wasn’t easy. Watching a child’s whole world collapse around her isn’t exactly fun to watch.

But through this reveal, Claire is finally given the push she needs to find Jamie. Of course, that means that Claire must now decide if she should try to return to Jamie, or stay in the 1970s with their daughter Bree.

In fact, it’s Bree (and Roger) who convince Claire that she must be reunited. Though it’s incredibly heartbreaking for the mother and daughter to part (possibly forever), we know that it’s the right thing to do.

Claire tells Bree how heartbreaking it will be to not watch her daughter walk down the aisle, or be there for the birth of her first grandchild, but Bree assures her that she will be okay.

She wants her to find her real father, and for him to know she is alive and well. You can relive the goodbye via the video above, but you might want to be alone because you will probably cry.

“I’ve been trying to figure out if I’m more Fraser or Randall,” Brianna said. “And I realized, I’m more you than I am either of my fathers. And if I can turn out to be half the woman you are, then I’ll be fine.”
