10. When Claire tells Jamie
It was nearly a whole season before Claire finally trusted Jamie with her secret. Once it was out, a huge rush of relief ran out — not just because she was finally free of the secret, but because Jamie believed her instantly, without hesitation.
The heartbreak came later when he realized that she had tried to get back to Frank after they were married, and he beat her for disobeying him. It went further though, as Jamie brought her back to the stones so that she could return to Frank if she chose to do so.
He left her atop the mountain and told her he’d stay overnight at the bottom in case she needed help (swoon), then left her to make her choice.
Of course, we all know that she chose Jamie, as we all probably would have, but those hours atop the mountain must have been hard for Jamie who I truly believe thought Claire would choose Frank.
“On your feet, soldier. Take me back to Lallybroch,” Claire tells Jamie when she has returned.
