Outlander: 25 most gut-wrenching moments so far

14. Leaving Scotland & Jamie behind
We all probably thought that leaving through the stones would be the hardest thing that Claire ever had to do, but the tough times were far from over.
After agreeing to give Jamie up for good, Frank decides to move them to America to start a new life. That meant that Claire would have to leave Scotland — and all her memories behind. She did so, to honor Jamie’s wishes and to hope for the best life for her child.
Prior to leaving Scotland, she was forced to hand over her clothing, one of the last things linking her to her past and watched from a window as Frank burned them. Thankfully, he was merciful enough to let her keep her wedding band though.
When Claire stepped out of the plane in Boston, it was a symbol that she was moving on from her life in the 1700s and, of course, from Jamie.
Though she didn’t cry on the show — we all did from home.
