1. Comforting Marsali

Claire may not like Laoghaire and she certainly didn’t like Marsali at first, but she tries not to hold too much of a grudge. That’s especially when she realizes that Marsali may not be the witch she initially seemed.

The start of Outlander Season 4, Episode 4 gives us a beautiful moment between Claire and Marsali. Now visibly pregnant, Marsali is struggling with her emotions. And this isn’t just hormones playing up. Claire knows that there’s something troubling the young girl.

Talking about Laoghaire could have made the whole scene awkward, but Claire was kind and comforting throughout. While Laoghaire isn’t her favorite person, she can tell that as a mother, she did well. Marsali is a kind and sweet soul, which had to have, in part, come from Laoghaire.

Even when Marsali indirectly mentions that Claire didn’t have children (which we know is a lie), Claire doesn’t flinch. There’s a pang of guilt and she later confesses to Jamie that she misses Brianna, but when it comes to Marsali, she keeps the topic on the pregnant woman.
