2. The talk of home

Jamie suggests Boston could be an option since Claire will be familiar with it. However, Claire decides that it wouldn’t be a good idea. There’s danger in Boston. It’s the place where the Revolutionary War starts.

But while this is a good moment, it’s the talk that comes afterward that I love the most. This is one of the scenes I’ve been waiting the most for from the Outlander Season 4 trailers. Claire and Jamie talk about home. Claire wants to build a home together and this can be taken two ways: she wants to physically build the home with him or metaphorically build a home because of the many meanings to the word.

It’s a beautiful discussion between them. Claire had a home in Boston and knows what it’s like to be rooted with her family. Jamie has never had that since his arrest at Lallybroch before he even met Claire. While there’s always family, he’s not really had a place to call his own. He and Claire certainly never have.

Claire wants to settle down. She wants a chance to just be with the man she loves and she wants to be safe at the same time. This is the start of something beautiful.
