2. Jamie’s ring stolen

While there are many who would have preferred the series stuck to the book’s storyline of Frank’s ring going missing, having it be Jamie’s taken was the perfect addition to the Outlander Season 4 premiere. A lot of the intricacies of Frank’s ring haven’t been included in the TV show, so Jamie’s ring will be more noticable later.

I also loved the reaction. Claire was devastated to find that it was Jamie’s ring that was going. There was a huge buildup to this moment and Claire made it clear that the ring was all she needed. Now, the one thing she treasured the most from Jamie is gone.

This connects to the apothecary cabinet gift. While I adored this moment, there’s another that stood out more for me.

1. Starting a new life

After dinner, Claire and Jamie discuss the offer that has been made to Jamie. He can have land. All he needs to do is swear loyalty to the crown. Claire knows this is bad news, but part of her wants to remain in the Colonies. This is the place that becomes America, her home and Brianna’s birthplace. Of course she wants to stay!

Meanwhile, you can see that Jamie wants to head back home. It’s only after the conversation that he realizes what the country means to Claire and what it can mean for him. He never got to raise Brianna, but he can play a part in the country that it will become.

There’s a beautiful moment, as they talk just about Brianna. While the talk of other children has been a favorite for me in other episodes, in the Outlander Season 4 premiere and in this moment, it needed to be just about Brianna. And that’s what we got.

TV Time fans voted on the moment in the woods in the morning, which was an awesome moment and a line from it made my top lines post yesterday.
