5. The talk of lost children

When it happened: Season 3, Episode 6

Any tension between Claire and Jamie? There was some tension, as the two brought up topics of the past. Most of it revolved around how Claire would take the news of Willie.

Why it’s the best: After Jamie saw Claire again after 20 years and fainted, the two had a chance to talk. Of course, the first topic of discussion was Brianna. Jamie needed to know that his child was safe and wanted to know as much as possible. After initially getting over the name, he was able to look through the photos and get a chance to see her grown up.

This led to a talk about all lost children. Faith was mentioned, bringing up a beautiful moment between the two. It would have been easy for them to try to forget their stillborn daughter, but that wasn’t going to happen. She would always be a part of them.

Then came the talk of Willie. I know this isn’t a favorite part for many, but Willie is such as important part in Jamie’s life and this continued that focus on trust. Jamie hadn’t told anyone the truth about Willie. Only Claire had the privilege of knowing because he knew that she would never tell anyone.

It mimicked the time Claire told Jamie about her time traveling secret. Jamie became the first person she told and Claire was the first person he told. A beautiful symmetry.
