When it happened: Season 4, Episode 8

Any tension between Claire and Jamie? None. The two were finally on the same page and making their life at Fraser’s Ridge work. The tension was purely due to the situation.

Why it’s the best: There have been many cases when Jamie has been pushed into a corner to support his wife. Other times, he’s known that he’s needed to stand by her or help with a situation she believes is wrong. Outlander Season 4, Episode 8 turned the tables.

We got to see Jamie be the one who had a cause he needed to fight for. Yes, we’d seen Claire stand by Jamie throughout the Jacobite rebellion. The earlier two seasons had been both Claire and Jamie in a give and take relationship. They’d worked as an excellent team.

That bond seemed to disappear in the third season. So, seeing it back in the fourth season was perfect. When Jamie knew he needed to save Murtagh, he needed a distraction. Who better to create that distraction than Claire by operating on someone with a genuine medical condition?

Claire never argued. Of course, she needed to know why Jamie needed the distraction so she knew how much time she’d need to give him. Those were the only questions she asked. Otherwise, she trusted Jamie fully and he trusted her to offer him the time he needed.
