What it’s about: Based on the Grishaverse novels by Leigh Bardugo, Shadow and Bone follows Alina Starkhov, an orphan who learns that she could be the legendary and prophecised Sun Summoner. Only she can rid the world of the Shadow Fold, and now there are forces everywhere looking for her.

While Alina figures out who to trust, the Crows have their own journey to follow, which just happens to involve the Sun Summoner. Will the Crows help Alina or kidnap her for her powers?

Why watch it: Shadow and Bone is one of those shows where everything fell into place. The acting, the writing, and the directing are all on point.

It’s a series that captures the heart of the novels, but fixes some of the wrongs at the same time. After all, there’s no way that any novel is 100% perfect. Bardugo noticed that and was able to make some fixes while combining the whole Grishaverse together in the Netflix series.

The character development is one of the best things about the show. All characters get plenty of time to get to know them, feel something for them, and want the best for (most of) them.
