What it’s about: The Frankenstein Chronicles isn’t quite what you would expect. While there is a mention of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” it’s not the book that comes into play in this series. When a dead child is found made up of the parts of numerous dead children, Sean Bean’s John Marlott is called in on the case.

John soon realizes that there is something bigger at play. Someone is looking to bring people back to life and he could be on the wrong side of this case.

Why watch it: If you love Sean Bean, then that’s the one reason you’ll need to watch The Frankenstein Chronicles. It was the one reason that initially pulled me into the series.

Another period drama on this list of shows to watch if you love Outlander, the story brings out the tale of medical innovation and the theories of life and death. John is pulled into a world that he doesn’t understand and is skeptical of until he’s thrown in the deep end.
