5. Forget Me Not

Character: Will Fletcher

Air date: Mar. 4, 2010

About the character: Will Fletcher is a musician in London. After performing one night, he saves a bartender from a drunken customer and the two head off around the streets of London just to talk. What initially seems like a typical romantic comedy is anything but, as Will hosts a dark secret that Eve the barmaid may be allowed to find out.

Why it deserves a spot: When it comes to proving this is a guy who could take on two distinctly different roles, Forget Me Not is the one to watch. That’s why it makes it into the top five on the list. Will isn’t your happy-go-lucky character that most typical romcoms offer. He’s a tortured artist with a somewhat dark soul at times.

Sure, Will definitely isn’t as bad as Black Jack Randall. In fact, he’s nowhere near. But this is still a sign of the things that were to come for Tobias Menzies. Remember this movie was done in 2010, which is a decade into his acting career.

There are some beautiful moments in the movie, but this isn’t one of those where you think “I wish my life could be like that.” There’s a little more realism and that’s what makes it so good.
