Toni Graphia and Matt B. Roberts gave Sony a tour of the Outlander writer’s room. This is where the magic is made and now you can see how it’s all planned out.

Ever wondered just how much work goes into the creation of Outlander? Wondered how the stories are broken down and how the writer’s work? Well, Toni Graphia and Matt B. Roberts gave Sony a tour of the Outlander writer’s room, giving fans a chance to see behind the scenes. We even got to see Maril Davis on the camera to say hello.

For those who imagine the writers sitting around a big table to hash things out, you may want to get that out of your minds. The writers all get big comfortable chairs and small tables to work from, where they can discuss the story and draft out the scripts before individuals go off and write the scripts they’re tasked with.

There are even storyboards with magnetic cards, allowing writers to put down the most important plot points. These magnetic cards can be shifted around if a plot point doesn’t quite work in one spot, developing the story into what we’ve seen.

This video was shot during the Outlander Season 3 filming with the plot points for the episodes still on the board. Roberts was prepping for Season 4, rereading “Drums of Autumn” with plenty of sticky markers for finding the most important aspects of the story to bring to life.

If you’ve ever wanted to see where the magic is made, you’ll want to check out the video of the Outlander writer’s room tour. Even if you’re not a fan of how some of the stories are adapted, seeing how the whole series comes to life is interesting.
