#4. Discussions about Jack Randall

As Jamie and Brianna bond further, Jack Randall comes up in conversation. Of course, this is linked to her own rape but it’s a highly sensitive subject. This isn’t something Jamie would ever want to talk about and he’d usually shy away and avoid it. However, he doesn’t get angry with Brianna at all. In fact, he realizes that she’s asking for a genuine reason and she needs his help.

While it’s not all good news for Brianna, Jamie is open and honest. Their emotions are raw and it’s clear that there are a lot of underlying feelings for both of them; things Jamie doesn’t remember and other things he wishes he didn’t. This was a moment that would make or break this relationship and it certainly made it.

#3. Finding Brianna a husband

With the talk of rape, Jamie does everything an 18th-century father would do. He wants to make sure his daughter is provided for and not ruined by the rape. However, there are some major arguments over this subject. Of course, both Brianna and Jamie come from different times. Brianna is set in her 20th-century ways, while Jamie is set in his 18th-century ones.

All Jamie wants is the best for his daughter. He just doesn’t want her to lose all her prospects and, as much as we don’t like it now we’re in the 21st century, he’s just thinking as a typical 18th-century father. There is certainly going to be some tension and negative emotions, but these moments could bring some of the best drama for the characters.
