Outlander Season 4 casting: Who is Natalie Simpson
Natalie Simpson will be Phaedre in Outlander Season 4. It’s time to look at the actress to see if we can guess what to expect in the season.
Natalie Simpson was one of five new additions for Outlander Season 4. According to IMDb, she’ll be in four episodes of the season as Phaedre. Rather than focus too much on the character right now, it’s worth looking into the actress’ background. This may give us an idea of what to expect from her in the fourth season of the time-traveling love story.
Simpson is relatively new to TV work. Her IMDb profile only goes back to 2013 and a lot of her work has been with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She’s worked in some major plays, including playing Ophelia in Hamlet.

Ophelia is arguably one of the hardest roles in the Shakespeare play. This is a role that is deep, but can look somewhat ingenuous from the outside at times. Ophelia finds herself trapped between her love for Hamlet and her duty as a good woman for her father and brother. She’s supposed to be a dutiful potential wife but is also a wildflower beneath the surface, torn between love and loyalty. By being able to play such a role, we should expect to see some excellent acting in Outlander Season 4.

Simpson is also set to play Sister Simplice in the TV mini-series Les Miserables. This is a TV adaptation of the Victor Hugo play. Both Outlander and Les Miserables are both period productions set around the same time, so work hand-in-hand. They may have been beneficial for her acting abilities by working on them around the same time.
