Outlander Season 1 took an excruciating break in this week in history. However, Season 2 aired one of its most heartbreaking episodes of all-time, Faith.
In Outlander history this week, only one episode aired. The Powers That Be at Starz opted to take a week off in this week in history for Season 1. It was an excruciating one too, although at least now we have the Starz App (and currently Netflix in some parts of the world) to just binge-watch through.
Outlander Season 2 aired its most heartbreaking but beautiful episodes. In fact, “Faith” may be the most heartbreaking episodes of the whole show. Here’s a look at the Outlander history details.

For some reason, Starz took a break between the penultimate episode and the season finale. It’s not often that a network will take this sort of break, so it suggests there was some big reason that doesn’t make sense looking back.
I’m grateful I wasn’t a fan of the show at this point in history. I don’t think I could have gone an extra week wondering what would happen between “Wentworth Prison” and “To Ransom a Man’s Soul.”
Season 2, Episode 7: Faith
On May 23, 2016, Outlander Season 2, Episode 7 aired. “Faith” is still one of the most heartbreaking episodes of the whole show, as Claire goes through the loss of her daughter alone. Jamie had been locked in the Bastille for dueling, so didn’t get a chance to say goodbye in the way that Claire did. However, Claire also almost lost her life if it wasn’t for Master Raymond’s magic.
This episode also had one of the most devastating lines for Claire, when she wanted to help get Jamie out of the Bastille–after learning that Jamie dueled because of the things that happened to Fergus. She did what she had to get her husband back and get away from Paris. Here’s why it remains the best episode of Season 2, despite it being so heartbreaking to watch.
