Tanya Saracho may be the Vida creator, but she has an obsession for another Starz series. Because of that, she’s found her own Jamie Fraser. Literally!

Before Tanya Saracho was known for creating the newest hot show on Starz, Vida, she was a girl with an Outlander obsession. We’ve all been there. This isn’t one of those unhealthy obsessions. Like for many of us, the series helped her through dark periods in her life, gave her a connection to Scotland, and encouraged her to visit the country.

From there, she met her own Jamie Fraser and it’s a beautiful love story. This is a man who has sacrificed his job to look after her in a time of need. That’s true love right there and everything Jamie would have done for Claire.

One thing that drove her to Outlander was the different perspective from all other shows. While the series is known for its sex scenes, it was one in particular that stood out: the moment Claire takes Jamie’s virginity. So many shows focus on things the opposite way around. It’s always the man taking the girl’s virginity. To see it from this perspective made it a show (and of course the book material first) important in the current focus of programming.

Saracho now has her own show that focuses on a different perspective and is already causing a storm of positivity on social media. Vida is about two estranged sisters who return to their old neighborhood after the shocking death of their mother. There they learn that things haven’t quite been as they expected, including their mother being married to a woman for the last two years–and everyone except her daughters knew.

I’ll leave you with Saracho’s story, which looks at how Outlander helped her, the story of finding her Jamie and bringing Vida to Starz.
