Alec Newman is the latest addition to Outlander Season 4. He’ll play a role central to Brianna’s story.
There’s been very little in the way of Outlander Season 4 casting news. Many roles need to be filled, but so far only a handful have been shared. While we know the people stepping into the shoes of Aunt Jocasta, Ulysses, and the evil Stephen Bonnet, only minor roles have been mentioned.
That could be changing soon. While not officially announced from Starz, some snooping on IMDb has helped us here at Claire and Jamie figure out that Alec Newman has been cast in an Outlander Season 4 role. His profile states that he’ll play Joseph Weymss in the eighth episode of the season. The Glasgow-born actor is known as Toby Pullings in Fearless and Leon Tell in The Bastard Executioner.

Joesph Weymss is an important character in Brianna’s storyline. When she travels to the past in Scotland, she has to find a way to get to the Colonies. Considering her position and the fact she’s female, having some sort of protection or help is necessary. Joseph sells his daughter, Lizzie Weymss, to Brianna as an indentured servant to help protect Lizzie from being sold to a man who will make her his concubine.
In the books, Joseph eventually reunites with his daughter. However, Newman is only currently listed for one episode in Outlander Season 4. Will production get him back for the fifth season and beyond?
