Eagle-eyed fans spot a special addition to the Outlander Season 3 deleted scenes
There was a special moment from “Dragonfly in Amber” that books fans missed not being included in Outlander Season 2. Well, it looks like it was included in deleted scenes for Season 3.
If you’ve read all the books, you’ll remember the moment Jamie sent Claire back through the stones. It was far more emotional than in the TV series and included a very special, permanent element, as they refused to forget about each other. It was all about the carving of the initials, which wasn’t included in Outlander Season 2.
Many fans have been disappointed that this special moment was included. There may have been many practical reasons for filming for it not to be included, but it’s still sad that something as important as this in the novels never made it to the series.
Well, eagle-eyed fans have spotted that it may have been included after all. During the Outlander Season 3 deleted scenes, fans found remnants of the carvings on the hands of our leading lovers.
Fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the inclusion of the initials in the deleted scenes. Why put them there and then not bother with the actual series?

It is possible that the showrunners attempted it but then realized how much time it would take. The makeup would need to be done for every single scene, unlike with Jamie’s scars on his back that are only needed each time his shirt is off. Maybe the showrunners just wanted to see if it was possible, only to realize that actually it wasn’t and that was the reason for the deleted scenes.
Another fan questioned the idea of whether it was just an Easter egg for the fans. This would make sense. The editing team may have just wanted to put something special in for the fans of the books in the deleted scenes.
There is a lot of confusion over the initials now. Going back over the episodes, sometimes fans see the initials and then other times they’re not there. Just what is going on with Outlander and the editing?
