Caitriona Balfe teases Sam Heughan and Sophie Skelton with Six Nations 2018 league table
The Natwest Six Nations 2018 took place over the weekend with some excellent game playing from a number of teams. Caitriona Balfe couldn’t help take to Twitter to share her excitement at the current league table.
Every year the Six Nations rugby takes place and each year certain countries are expected by fans to win. England and Ireland went in as the favorites, with Scotland usually towards the bottom of expectations. However, the team flipped expectations this week after winning the Calcutta Cup (the cup for the game between England and Scotland) for the first time in 10 years. With England’s loss came Ireland’s push to the top of the league table.
And Caitriona Balfe wasn’t going to let any of her co-stars forget that.

Outlander is made up of an international cast. Despite her convincing south English accent, Balfe is Irish born and she is definitely supporting her nation in the Six Nations 2018. Sophie Skelton, despite the American accent in the show, is English and is supporting her home team. And of course, Sam Heughan is Scottish and would have been extremely happy at Scotland’s win over the weekend.
Balfe quickly took to Twitter to share the Six Nations league table over the weekend and tagged both her co-stars in, asking how to pronounce the name. This led to a fun conversation between the co-stars, as Skelton replied with it being pronounced as “fluke.” The stars went into character, as Balfe told Skelton to “sit on the naughty step.” Heughan also joined in with “Disowned and disliked. You’re on your own Skelton.”
One thing that the cast do show is the fun and friendly banter between the different nations. The Six Nations rugby tends to show fans at their best and certainly showed the team members at their best. Despite England losing, all team members shook hands with the Scottish team and shared their congratulations. That continued with the fans afterwards.
