There seem to be debates over who Margaret was channelling in the Outlander finale, but it’s really very simple.

Trying to show a huge novel on the screen is never easy. Outlander season 3 has had to take storylines out and change others to work for the series. It’s left a few questions for some of the fans. One of those questions has been who Margaret was channelling in the finale and who that “monster” was.

Who was Margaret channelling?

Some fans have taken to Facebook groups and social media to debate whether it was a Heavenly version of Faith or Brianna in the future. It was most definitely Brianna, as she mentioned that she had seen Jamie in a dream. Meanwhile, she already knew who Claire was.

In “Voyager,” the channelling of Brianna is much clearer. Margaret’s face changes to form Brianna’s face, so Claire instantly recognizes her daughter. The show is already expensive and doing something like that may have sent it over budget, so they had to work with the statements.

Who was the monster?

It’s the monster that’s brought up a bigger debate. There are two people competing for this position: Archibald and Brianna. The Outlander writers took to Twitter to share that both could be classed as the monster. However, it’s likely Geillis.

How Brianna knew about the monster coming for her is unknown, but she knew. It’s all magical and mystical, so the reasoning is technically plausible.
