The final cable ratings for Sunday night are in and it’s not positive for Outlander.

Every now and then a show will see a dip. That happened with “Heaven & Earth” for Outlander Season 3. The Sunday night final cable ratings are in and things aren’t wholly positive for the show. Does that mean we need to worry? Not necessarily!

“Heaven & Earth” saw the 18-49 demographic saw a small dip at 0.28, according to TV Series Finale. While it is a dip, it’s only small. It’s the total number of viewers that may be worrying for some. At 1.234, it saw a 17.29% drop and is the lowest for the whole of Season 3. This dip has been seen the last two weeks, which suggests that all the changes to the books aren’t being viewed as positive to the fans. That’s not surprising, as many fans would like to see Diana Gabaldon’s work adapted purely on screen, although it’s not possible with time and budget restraints that books don’t have.

Regardless, the small dip isn’t something to worry about. This is just the live and same day ratings. What hasn’t been released is the amount of people watching through the Starz App or one of the partners. Starz is a subscription service, so will count that as a win if people sign up to watch Outlander.

Also, Outlander Season 4 is already renewed. There’s hope that the show will pick up before that season ends, making the Season 5 renewal more likely.

TV by the Numbers states the demographic rating was 0.3, but has the same total viewer rating. It’s also worth pointing out that The Walking Dead saw a six-year low, which suggests Sunday was just a bad night.

So far the average across the whole Season 3 is still positive. Outlander Season 2 averaged 0.22 in the demographic and 1.088 million total viewers. So far the average ratings are 0.33 and1.523 respectively, suggesting that if Starz renewed for two seasons on lower figures then another renewal is on the cards.
