There are some changes coming to the cast of Miss Scarlet season 6. These changes aren’t as big as losing William, aka The Duke, from the series, but they could have a knock-on effect for Eliza’s story.

The announcements were made as Miss Scarlet season 5 came to an end and a sixth season was ordered. We’ve had time to prepare, but it’s easy to overlook the exiting cast members. In some exciting news, there is a returning face, and we’ll also get to meet someone new.

MASTERPIECE Miss Scarlet, Season 5 Episode Four: “The Deal” Sunday, February 2 at 8/7c on PBS Eliza’s life is turned upside down when she finds herself dragged into a missing persons case with a recently released convict by the name of Patrick Nash. Miss Scarlet will lose two characters in season 6

The first exit was one that was written in well into Miss Scarlet season 5. Felix Scott will not return as Patrick Nash, who managed to get out of jail during the fifth season. This was by someone with money who had ulterior motives, and in the end, he managed to get Eliza on his side to help him stay out of jail by doing the right thing.

In the end, Nash took a ticket that would take him to Australia, which is where we’ll likely find him in the sixth season. This doesn’t rule out that he could ever come back, but it’s a long trip, and most people back then didn’t return to their home countries. Nash will be mentioned, though, as he continues to cause some problems for Eliza!

The other exiting character is Detective Fitzroy, as Evan McCabe has left the show. While his character did get some extra focus toward the end of the fifth season, he wasn’t given an exit. McCabe was cast in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Hamlet production, and that meant a choice had to be made.

So, we’ll likely learn as to where Fitzroy has gone in the premiere episode. After all, there’s a new detective joining the series, as Sam Buchanan steps into the role of Detective George Willows. This creates a new dynamic for Inspector Blake at Scotland Yard.

Another new character is Isabel Summers, played by Grace Hogg-Robingson. She joins the Clerical Office, and she could end up causing problems for Ivy, who has proven herself there.

Moses Valentine will return on Miss Scarlet season 6

While there are some exiting and new characters, we’ll also see a familiar face. Ansu Kabia is back as Moses Valentine, and it looks like he needs Eliza’s help to get himself out of some trouble. Of course, he only returns when he needs something!

Clarence is going to worry, though. Remember that Moses was Eliza’s secretary for the longest time, and Clarence is sweet, but he’s not always the most focused. He’ll worry that Moses is back for his job, and that means Clarence will want to prove himself.

Miss Scarlet season 6 premieres on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 8/7c on PBS.
