When Danny made it clear he needed money, it was clearly not for a business deal gone wrong. We learned a little of what he needed it for in The Couple Next Door season 1, episode 2.

The episode kicks off with Danny delivering an envelope of cash to a flat. It’s all done outside, and the woman mentions that he could have easily sent it as a bank transfer. That would mean a paper trail, though, and Danny doesn’t want that.
Did Danny have an affair in The Couple Next Door?
The obvious storyline is that Danny and this woman had an affair. With Danny wanting to come inside, it would suggest that there’s a child and Danny wants to see that child. However, the woman doesn’t want to let him in.
However, the child is enough to give this woman leverage over Danny. She could easily share information and get a DNA test to make sure he has to pay her officially. This would mean his wife would find out.
But wait, Danny and Becka have an open marriage. That was something explained in the episode, so why would Danny have to worry about an affair?
Did Danny break the rules of the open relationship?
The fact that Danny and Becka already have an open relationship suggests that there is something deeper to Danny’s relationship with the unnamed woman. It would mean that Danny broke the rules.
This could depend on the age of the kid, presuming that there is a kid. If it was before Danny and Becka changed the rules to being around when the other was hooking up with someone, then Danny wouldn’t have anything to worry about. He could explain that he has a child from another relationship.
It suggests then that Danny did this after the rule change. With Becka not involved, she will see this as cheating. A good open marriage has the rules and if those rules are broken, the marriage either ends or it closes. Danny is clear that he wants to follow the rules, and he’s the one breaking them. Becka will need to decide what she does after learning the truth.
