When George Washington asked Jamie if they had met before during Outlander season 7, episode 12, Jamie immediately shared when. Here’s a reminder of that particular episode.
Yes, Jamie and George have met before. At least, they have in the TV series. The two hadn’t met in the books, but the show brought us a fun moment, knowing what type of storyline the two would end up having in the future.
As Jamie reminded George, they met while in Wilmington at the theater. Well, there is much more to remember about that meeting.
Jamie and George met in Outlander season 4
We have to head back to Outlander season 4 for their first meeting. Jamie and Claire attended the theater in Wilmington while they built Fraser’s Ridge. Governor Tyron and his wife were also there, and this ended up with the production coming to an end when there was a medical emergency. Claire did surgery in front of everyone to fix a hernia.
The surgery also offered Jamie a chance to get word out to Murtagh. Tryon had found out more about the Regulators and set a trap. Jamie was able to use Claire’s surgery to pass on a message to Fergus, who could get out to warn Murtagh.
Jamie, George, and Claire even had a scene together, where Claire showed her embarrassment of believing everything you read. She brought up the infamous incorrect information about George Washington chopping down cherry trees, to which George had no idea what Claire was talking about. It was not the best first impression, but it looks like George didn’t really care much about the moment to remember it well.
One thing I am surprised is that George didn’t remember Jamie jumping into his carriage. He pretended that he needed to get Claire’s surgical tools and George gave him a ride away from the theater. It was actually to get a message to Fergus to help Murtagh, and it was all certainly out of the ordinary for the time.
