The journey to search for the women continues in Virgins section 25. There’s also a near-miss when it comes to D’Eglise learning the truth.

Of course, Jamie and Ian will not want D’Eglise to find out that Rebekah and Marie have left with the Torah. This would break a lot of trust, and it could lead to some punishments for the two men. Today is not the day for him to find out, fortunately.

Breaking down Virgins section 25

Jamie and Ian are on the right road, as they find Rebekah and Marie’s tracks. I love that the two use their hunting capabilities to find them. The problem is a lot of wagons have gone over the tracks, so the two need to split up and ask the wagon drivers about the two women.

Ian comes back to Jamie with news fairly quickly. The women were spotted arguing on the road to Parcoul. Ian was also spotted by Josef-from-Alsace, one of the mercenaries. It turns out that the other group had been attacked by the same bandits that went after them, but they didn’t take the dowry money. Noticing that Ian and Jamie were separated, Ian shared a story that they had also been attacked, and that Jamie had gone ahead with the women and Ian was going back to the fallen carriage for something.

This buys the two time to find the women, and they do get a step closer to finding them. A woman in a village points down a road to say that the two women headed down there. She’s shocked that Jamie and Ian don’t know what is down that road. It’s the home of Vicomte Beaumont. This isn’t a name we’ve heard before, so I’m not surprised Jamie and Ian haven’t heard of it. Why are the women heading there, though?

Could this section be used in a TV adaptation?

We’d definitely need this section of Virgins, as it continues the story for Jamie and Ian searching for the women. We’d need to see Ian’s part of the story play out, though, rather than him just offering a playback of what happened. This would allow us a chance to see how easy it is for Ian to lie on the spot.

Personally, I think that the attacks were coordinated, and that they have something to do with the women on the run. This is something I’d love to see a discussion of, as Jamie would surely start thinking the same.
