Jamie and Ian need to act fast if they want to catch up to Rebekah and Marie in Virgins section 24. They also need to decide if they can believe the word of another man.
Rebekah and Marie being out alone is dangerous. It’s clear that they have some sort of plan, but it’s only a matter of time before unscrupulous people end up coming across them.
Breaking down Virgins section 24
Ian and Jamie realize that the two women have about a six-hour head start on them. That’s a long time, and it feels even longer when they realize that they may not be able to trust the man from the tavern. What if the women paid him off, or what if he wants to sent Jamie and Ian in another direction so that he and his men can go after the two women?
Jamie and Ian decide to flip a coin, which tells them that the man was lying. However, when they get to the crossroads, they decide to head in the direction they were called. The crossroads is close, and this is the perfect place for Rebekah and Marie to cause confusion.
I have a lot of questions as we end this section. Why would the two women want to escape? I can only imagine that this has something to do with her upcoming marriage. It’s likely that she doesn’t want it to happen, but she’s risking a lot for her own happiness. I do get a few vibes of Ellen MacKenzie, though!
Could this section be used in a TV adaptation?
There is no doubt that this section of Virgins would need to be used in an adaptation. It adds to the drama and the mystery of the whole situation. I’d like to see Jamie and Ian flipping the coin, and the full discussion about whether to trust the man.
At the same time, I’d like to see where Marie and Rebekah are. This would be a great time to show us whether the two men are on the right road or not. Of course, that takes away some of the guessing game for us. Maybe we can just see the two women on the road without a clear sign that they are on the same one.
