Outlander season 1

It was always clear that Rebekah and Marie were up to something, and Jamie learns a little of what that is in Virgins section 23. The women have left!

Rebekah drugging Jamie and seducing Ian was part of a bigger plan. This is sure to push us into some drama for the rest of the short story.

Breaking down Virgins section 23

I always thought it was a bad idea that the Hasdi allowed Jamie and Ian to be alone with Rebekah and Marie. There wasn’t enough manpower to protect Rebekah and the expensive Torah. So, of course, things had to go wrong. I do wonder if Rebekah had managed to manipulate things with her grandfather, though.

You see, it turns out that the two women had another plan. While Jamie was drugged and Ian had been seduced, Marie took the Torah. I thought that Jamie should have questioned where Marie was during this time. I have to wonder what would have happened had Jamie not had the sexual hallucinations that he did. Ian was the one to take Rebekah out of the room, not the other way around.

Anyway, the two women and the Torah are gone. Jamie roughs a man at the inn up to get some answers, learning that the two women left for Bonnes three hours after moonlight. The women have a bit of a head start, but Jamie and Ian know where they’re going, and so they head out on the hunt for the women. At least Jamie still has his purse to be able to pay for the inn.

Is it possible that Rebekah felt guilty, and that’s why she left the purse? I just think she didn’t consider the purse when she and Marie were taking everything else.

Could this section be used in a TV adaptation?

This section of Virgins would be needed if this short story was adapted into a TV series. It brings the drama for the story, setting up a threat to Rebekah and Marie, since we all know that it’s not safe for the two women to be out there alone. I do have to wonder if they are meeting with anyone, though.

I think I’d like to see Rebekah and Marie escape, though. Or I’d like to see Marie sneak in and steal the Torah. This would allow us to be shown what’s going on, and maybe we could get some of their story on the road.
