Jamie Fraser is alive! We can all rejoice! Of course, that means complications in Outlander season 7, episode 12.
A lot went down at the end of the previous episode. William learned who his biological father is, Jamie took John hostage, and Claire found herself with two husbands (again!). What does all this mean as we go into the next episode?
Take a look at the promo and synopsis for Outlander season 7, episode 12 before we break them down:
"Lord John Grey is put in a precarious position. William struggles to understand a surprising revelation."
William will struggle to deal with who he is
William is understandably angry about everything he has learned. Finding out that he is not the son of Lord Ellesmere and is the son of a Jacobite is going to change everything for him. We’ll see him grapple with what is all means in the new episode, as he lashes out in anger.
I know a lot of book readers thought William a brat in how he handled this. From the look of the promo, the show is doing a good job of humanizing William so that we’ll feel empathy for him instead. It is a confusing moment for him.
Jamie finds out the truth in Outlander season 7, episode 12
Jamie clearly doesn’t know that Claire and John married. It’s time for him to learn the truth, and this is going to lead to a few questions. We see Claire telling Jamie that they believed he was dead. Of course she was going to do what she needed to protect herself and her family—he was lucky she didn’t take her own life in a Romeo and Juliette style ending.
Jamie asks Claire if she is still his wife. Of course she is. She never once stopped loving him.
Lord John Grey is in danger
The last we saw, Jamie took John “hostage” to get out of the house. This was all a rouse, but we know that the truth is about to come out. Naturally, John will need to tell Jamie everything that happened.
This is going to put John in danger. We know Jamie’s anger. He’s always said he’s a violent man. Is he going to be angry at John for marrying Claire, despite it being to protect her? He has a bad habit of acting before thinking!
Jamie sends a letter to the Rebels
Jamie Fraser continues to work for the Rebels. He will get straight back into the action. He has a letter and he will hand it to Colonel Morgan. This is Daniel Morgan, who we met during the Battle of Saratoga. Morgan is now in the blue coat, which makes it clear that the Revolutionary War is really getting started.
The letter is of “interest to our Army’s high command,” Jamie says. It’s hard to see what the crest is, but this is something from the British.
The Rebels are moving into Philadelphia
The start of the promo makes it clear that the British are moving out of Philadelphia. This is going to open the door for the Rebels to move in. There is still a lot of ground to cover in the Revolutionary War, but the tide is potentially starting to turn.
This could further put John in danger. How will Jamie leave him? John is lucky that he wasn’t wearing his uniform when he was “held hostage.”
