While The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 9 initially starts with some focus on Jeremiah trying to drink away his pain, we do get to Paris to see where Belly is. Things aren’t going the way anyone planned.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 9.
We start with arguments, as you would expect when a wedding is called off. Laurel makes it clear that she was right all along, and she’s still angry that Adam brought Kayleigh and her whole family to this event. However, Laurel and Adam do eventually call a truce. It’s not like it’s going to change anything.
Meanwhile, Belly gets to Paris after leaving everything behind in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 8, but it quickly turns into disappointment as she finds out that there isn’t a place for her at the school. That spot has already gone.

An admin error leads to disappointment in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 9
In Belly’s defense, it’s not like she just assumed there would be a spot for her after she turned it down. She called and was told her spot was still open. However, when she gets to Paris, she learns that there was an admin error, and the guy does apologize for that.
What’s shocking is that Belly has told nobody what she’s doing. She didn’t tell them that she was going to Paris, and Laurel wants her to get back home so they can be together and fix the current issues.
Well, Belly isn’t exactly going to do that when her backpack is stolen. She has an AirTag on it, which takes her to a club where she needs a password. Interesting…
She is only able to get in after helping a woman, who does know the password. And while in there, Belly ends up making some new friends, who are shocked at the love triangle, runaway bride story, and more that seems to come from a fictional story.

Steven proves himself a little hypocritical
Meanwhile, Taylor and Steven are trying to help Jeremiah, which leads to Taylor catching Steven up on everything from last Christmas and spring break. Suddenly, Steven is angry that Jeremiah cheated on Belly. Erm, this is the guy who was cheating on his girlfriend with Taylor and didn’t seem to care all that much.
This all does lead to Taylor and Steven finally having a heart-to-heart, with Taylor telling Steven everything she said to him at the hospital. Steven fell for the woman who would be there for all the people she cares about, but she couldn’t do that for him. Now she wants to be that woman for him, and there’s hope that at least one relationship can work out in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3.

There’s hope that Belly’s character will be developed more
Something I dislike about We’ll Always Have Summer is how rushed the ending is. Belly doesn’t seem to get that much in the way of character development, and finding out that we’d get a few episodes of Belly in Paris made me smile.
Sure enough, The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 9 suggests that we will get some development for this young woman now in a foreign country. She starts to form bonds with the people she’s just met, as they all share how bad they are with Celine sleeping with married men (puke) and Benny almost marrying someone just for a spousal visa.
Belly originally tells this group that she has a flight to catch as she needs to go home, but on the way to the airport, she calls Jeremiah and things change. Jere wants them to get back together, but Belly can’t do that. In fact, she’s ready to remain in Paris for a while.
Back in Cousins, Conrad wants to comfort his brother, but he really needs to learn to read the room. The last person Jeremiah wants to see is his brother, and Adam can understand that. Conrad worries that he’s broken everything because of his confession, and he possibly has. Adam says that things will get better on their own, but that’s not the way humans work, and Adam is the worst person to give advice.
In the end, Conrad goes back to California while Jeremiah stays with his dad. Time will heal wounds, but there are always scars. The benefit of this is that the characters have a chance to build and grow, and that’s what they have all needed.
