One moment can make all decisions seem different, and that’s certainly the case for Belly in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 2. It’s time to look back at the events of the episode.

After learning that Jeremiah had cheated on her, Belly decides to cut off Taylor. It’s not that she thinks Taylor knew about it, but that Taylor is part of the sorority that the other woman is in. Taylor notes that she is guilty by association.
However, Belly is just trying to work through her feelings. She has to deal with the fact that everything around college reminds her of Jeremiah. So, she decides that she needs to focus on Paris, and getting her birth certificate to get her passport (why didn’t this come up earlier?) is the first time that she tells her mom about getting into the program.
Laurel and John end up hooking up in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 2
I don’t think this would surprise anyone considering how well Laurel and John have coparented over the years. The trailer even seemed to hint that Belly’s parents would end up hooking up again. And that’s what happens while at a literary retreat, which John happens to be at as his faculty wants to find a way to make history cool, and literary seems to be the way to do that.
The two don’t seem to have any regrets the next morning, until Laurel sees all of the missed calls from Belly. Wait, why was Belly calling? There’s something major that happens to Steven.
Steven is involved in a car accident in The Summer I Turned Pretty
After breaking up with Mia, Steven goes to see Taylor to tell her. She makes it clear that they don’t work together, and she tells him it’s time for him to leave her alone. When she gets out of the car, Steven turns around without looking and is T-boned.
Taylor and Steven are with him all night, and it’s thanks to Conrad’s connections in Stanford that they are able to get the best doctor on the case. Fortunately, Steven is going to be okay, but things aren’t good for Taylor and Steven.
While Steven was in his coma, Taylor told him that she did want to be with him, and that she’s scared that he will decide that she isn’t worth it. Those fears come true when Steven wakes up from his coma. Granted, he had no idea that Taylor had said any of that stuff to him, and he was going off the argument that led to this car accident. It’s not surprising then that he decides to end it for good.
Will it really be for good? For now it is, but as Belly and Jeremiah prove, that’s not necessarily the case.
Belly learns more about Spring Break
Belly decides that she wants to get some answers from Jeremiah. As Anika points out, if Jeremiah thought that they had broken up, then it wasn’t cheating. What makes it really bad is that he kept it from her. He should have just told her the truth in the first place.
Well, he’s not the only one keeping a secret. Hers is nothing like Jeremiah’s secret, though, but it does involve Conrad. Last Christmas, she went to Cousins because she was going to be alone for the summer. Conrad canceled his plans and headed there too, expecting Steven to be there. Instead, Belly was there, and the two ended up hanging out for a few days. Neither of them told Jeremiah about this, and it’s not really that much of a nefarious secret, but it will hurt Jere if he ever finds out.
However, that’s not a reason to just suddenly forgive Jeremiah for his actions. What does change her mind is seeing how easy it is for life to end. Everything that happened with Steven makes her wonder if she should forgive Jeremiah after all.
So, when she does, Jeremiah decides to propose. Well, he almost proposes but Belly says yes way before he can finish. It looks like there’s a wedding in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3.
As for Conrad, he got fired from his job after mislabeling a blood draw due to his emotions linked to Steven. He should have asked for the time off. There’s nothing weak about being worried about a friend who is family.
