Outlander Season 2 2016

Thoughts of the Star Chamber come up in The Space Between Section 41. Le Comte St. Germain learns more about his connection to Master Raymond.

There is a lot going on in this short section of the story. Joan is saved, while Master Raymond reveals a few more secrets to Le Comte St. Germain. I am surprised by Master Raymond’s surprise about Le Comte, though.

Breaking down The Space Between Section 41

With so much going on, Joan is able to run free from Le Comte St. Germain. As she gets to Michael, she notices that the penknife was going to be his weapon of choice, which she finds amusing. It’s great to have some humor in the middle of the drama.

After that, the focus turns to Le Comte St. Germain and Master Raymond. Le Comte is enraged and wants to get Joan again, but both Michael and Raymond yell at him to stop. Now the attention turns to Raymond, who is surprised that Le Comte did not realize that Joan wasn’t a time travel. He shares that he has found his lost daughter, and he’s curious about Le Comte’s abilities to see auras.

I was initially surprised that Raymond was surprised St. Germain couldn’t tell the difference. It’s not like Raymond have ever taught him anything about that, and it’s not like Raymond thought Claire should have been able to tell who was a time traveler or not. That never came up. So, I wonder if it’s because Le Comte’s power is to be able to see auras. At least, that’s what it seems to be.

We know Mandy is able to tell if someone in the family is a time traveler or not — and I think she can tell with others as well, but it’s not come up. So, did Raymond just assume that Le Comte would figure out what the auras were all about?

Raymond pulls Le Comte into the pentagram, and suddenly, all the buzzing around him stops. A blue light shows when the two men touch hands, and it shocks Le Comte. I guess he never put it all together that the blue light, which he has seen before, is a sign that they are from the same lineage.

One thing this moment does is tell Le Comte St. Germain why Master Raymond didn’t allow him to die in the Star Chamber. He’s finally getting some of the answers he’s needed.

Could this section be used in a TV adaptation?

If The Space Between is ever adapted, we would need this section to be used. The first part is Joan being rescued and getting to Michael safely. We need to know that Michael is able to help her.

Then there’s the bigger part of the section, focused on Le Comte and Raymond. We need to see the two have this discussion so that we can learn a little more about time travel and the connection of the people. I think it will help us understand Raymond more in Outlander season 2, and it’s actually the reason I would love to see this story adapted into a spin-off miniseries. There’s no way around using this section, so yes, I do think it would be used.
