It’s time to go back to Le Comte St. Germain’s house in The Space Between Section 33, but Michael isn’t going to get there right away. Joanie needs to find a way to call for help.
Joanie is waiting for Michael, but she’s interrupted before she can do that. Is there any hope for her survival? What exactly does Le Comte want?
Breaking down The Space Between Section 33
Joanie is standing by the window, waiting for Michael to leave the house. Once he does, she can call out the broken window for him to alert him as to where she is. Little does she know, he has worked it out, but he’s currently getting that information right now.
Well, before Michael comes out of the house, Le Comte walks into the room. Before he gets into the room, she decides to push her rosary out of the window and sits on the chair, so he doesn’t realize that she has found a way to call for help.
Le Comte wants to show Joan something, but she resists going where he wants her to. As he tucks her into him, she screams for help, but Le Comte covers her mouth again.
I love how we get to see this brave young woman. She’s not as meek as most people would expect her to be, considering she wants to be a nun. This is a woman who has grown up looking up to Jamie Fraser, and while he has been gone for some time, she still remembers the courage he had. She would have also heard some of the stories of his past, I’m sure. She has his fiery spirit.
Could this chapter be used in a TV series?
This section would need to be used if The Space Between was adapted into a TV series. It’s got some of the action in the story, and it shows us how resourceful and smart Joan is. She isn’t going to leave anything to fate.
We do need to find out what Le Comte St. Germain actually wants with Joan, and what he has to show her. It’s clear that he believes she is the daughter of Claire Fraser, but how is he going to feel and will he harm her when he finds out that is not the case?
