Merlin turns to Avallach for help on The Pendragon Cycle: The Rise of Merlin season 1 episode 4
Meanwhile, Merlin gets a family reunion with his grandfather, King Avallach, who is more than willing to host Aurellius and Uther. He even seems to respect Uther’s candid nature about the whoel situation. While at dinner, a decision is made. Merlin will ride with Pelleas and Uther to some allies to gain support for Aurellius, and Aurellius will stay behind.
Avallach would like Merlin to take the Fisher King’s sword, which was Merlin’s. However, as he takes it, he gets a vision and realizes that he cannot take that sword up again. He also shares that he wasn’t with God while he was away. Or maybe he was, but it’s not clear. What he does know is that Morgain was there.
As Merlin heads to see some allies, Meurig takes Uther to see a painting of Uther. The aim is to get Uther to turn against Merlin, who is viewed as some sort of fae folk by many people. Pelleas sees them, and a fight breaks out. Of course, did we really think Pelleas would be in any danger? He ends up beating Uther, with Merlin showing his abilities by stopping Uther from being able to move while he makes sure Meurig’s rather remains the king of the land that used to be Merlin’s. All he has to do is side with him in the coming battles.
That’s something he can do, and so, they all (Uther included) head off to Morcant, home of the Belgae. Uther is hiding his face the whole time, and there’s a battle before Merlin finally gets an audience with Morcant. At first, Morcant isn’t willing to give up his power, but Merlin’s threats make him thing again. And so, Aurellius has another supporter.

Aurellius goes to stop a raid on The Pendragon Cycle
While this plays out, Aurellius learns a surprising fact. King Avallach’s people haven’t had a child born in many years. In fact, it sounds like it has been since Merlin’s birth with the way Avallach looks at Charis. He knows that the Atlantian people are dying out, so he can’t support Aurellius when there is a raid on some of his land.
Charis doesn’t want Aurellius to go, so she decides that she will head out on a ride, and her guards will join her to protect her. They can’t help him in a battle, though. Of course, we know Charis can’t stand back from justice, and when it looks like Aurellius is going to die in a fight against Hengist, Charis steps in, and so do her guards.
Will they both be kicked out of Avallach’s palace? Not at all. Avallach supports the honor that Aurellius rules with.

Morgain has a family of her own on The Rise of Merlin
We also get caught up with where Morgain is. She has a family of her own, and her son seems just as psychopathic as her, as he smashes up a crab with a smile on his face — not to eat, just to destroy.
Her elder son doesn’t seem to have the same traits. He believes that they should side with Aurellius, but Morgain points out that they made a deal with the Saxons long ago. If Aurellius finds out about that deal, he could view the family as traitors anyway. The family is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
There doesn’t seem to be a decision made by the end, but Morgain’s son sees her in some sort of ritual where a demonic creature steps out of the shadows. She acts as if he’s seen nothing when she comes back out of the room, giving her son a box and kissing him in a way no mother should be kissing her son.
What is going on with Morgain? Of course, we know Morgana is an evil entity in the world of Arthur and Merlin, and that’s who Morgain is set to be based on, but what exactly does she want? And what is the deal with the box?
