We’re certainly excited to see more of Yellowjackets. The critically acclaimed series left us with a lot of questions and we want answers now.
There is some bad news, though. Due to the strike action this summer, we’re not going to get Yellowjackets Season 3 any time soon. It is not arriving at all in 2024.
Will we get it in 2025? That’s the plan for the Showtime series. We just don’t have a date just yet.
When will Yellowjackets Season 3 premiere on Showtime?
The series had just started pre-production when the WGA strike began last May. That shut everything down. Without any scripts being ready, it wasn’t like the show could do what House of the Dragon or Lord of the Rings did, where they filmed and just hoped that the scripts wouldn’t need any extensive rewrites as there were no writers to do it.
Then the actors joined in with the strike. Fortunately, the writers strike came to an end first, meaning that the writers room for Yellowjackets could open in September. Production wouldn’t be able to start up right away, and it’s clear that now there is a delay. This is the case for a lot of shows.
Deadline confirms that we shouldn’t expect the psychological thriller until 2025. A two-year break isn’t all that bad though when you consider the first season premiered in 2021 and we had to wait until 2023 for the second season. This is definitely a series worth waiting for.
Yellowjackets will remain set in the two time periods. While we have the current-day storyline that brings back characters we weren’t sure had lived or died, we will still head back to the 1990s to see what survival was like. The teen girls have taken to cannibalism to survive, but not everyone is onboard with the idea.
Yellowjackets is available to stream on Paramount+.
