Why STARZ is likely waiting until November for Outlander Season 7B

In some good news, there is a light at the end of the Droughtlander tunnel. In some bad news, the wait it much longer than we anticipated. Outlander Season 7B isn’t coming until November 2024.

When Outlander Season 7’s premiere date was announced last summer, we knew that we would only get eight episodes. The remaining eight episodes would be held until 2024.

While a lot of fans kept saying February, March, and then April, there was never an official confirmation. We made some suggestions of dates that would make sense, but we were always clear in that they were our suggestions and nothing that came from STARZ.

Well, all predictions and hopes were off. STARZ has opted for a November release date, and now fans are curious as to why wait so long.

Outlander Season 7B will lead us into the last Droughtlander

I think some of the wait has been linked to the strike action. Some reshoots were needed, and we know that Outlander stood in solidarity of the strikes as much as possible. It did delay a few things for post-production.

However, that wouldn’t usually mean a wait until November. So, this would suggest that STARZ is looking ahead at the last Droughtlander still to come. We’ll have one more at the end of Outlander Season 7B, while we wait for Outlander Season 8.

Production of Outlander Season 8 starts soon. It’s potentially already started, as Sam Heughan did say spring, but we usually don’t get to hear anything until a few weeks into it. This just helps to keep some of the fans away from filming to ensure things go smoothly.

Production and post-production take a long time. It’s why Droughtlanders are so long. With the delay in the start of production, there will be a longer wait for Season 8. So, it’s possible that STARZ initially decided on an earlier release date for Outlander Season 7B but as the delays for Season 8 came up, STARZ decided to make this Droughtlander slightly longer instead of making the last one too long for fans.
