When did Claire stop trying to get back to Frank in the Outlander TV series?

In Outlander Season 1, Episode 8, Claire still wanted to get back to Frank. At some point in the first season, that changed, but when?

We know in the books that Claire didn’t really make her decision until she was at the stones. She told Jamie the truth about where she came from and he took her back to Craigh na Dun. From there, Jamie saw that everything Claire said was the truth, and in that moment, the two realized they didn’t want to part.

What about in the TV series, though? Jamie didn’t go up to the stones with Claire. At some point, Claire made the choice herself and she returned to Jamie.

I do think that Claire didn’t make the choice until she was at the stones at Craigh na Dun. Up to that point, part of her heart was still with Frank in her own time period.

In Outlander Season 1, Episode 8, Claire tried to get to Frank. She wanted to get to him, calling his name as she ran up to the stones. However, she was captured by British soldiers before she could touch the stones.

Her need to get to Frank didn’t really change. When she was with the British soldiers, she still tried to get back to him. However, Black Jack Randall made it impossible. Jamie set up a plan to get Claire back. After all, Claire was his wife at this point, and he would honor the vows he made to her. She had his protection, along with the rest of the clan.

I still think Claire wanted to get back to Frank at that point. It was only after the witch trials that she opened up to Jamie. While there was some care and affection for him, it was this point that she realized that she could be honest with him. Trust is the cornerstone of love, and Claire proved that she trusted Jamie with a secret that could see her burned at the stake or locked away in an insane asylum.

Jamie realized that Claire wasn’t meant to be in his time period. I don’t think he fully believed that she was from the future at this point, but he believed that she believed it. Jamie knew that Claire had to make the choice to be with him or to go back to Frank.

And so, he did. After a passionate night, he made sure she got to the stones.

That was the point she made her choice. She knew that there was no turning back at this point. If she chose Frank, she would stay there. Instead, she chose Jamie. She knew that meant a life in the past, and she accepted that. She didn’t really know which choice she would make until that point at the stones, and she knew Jamie had her heart.
